CEO presents speech on nanoparticle technologyMonday, 4th August 2008 (929 views) The chief executive officer of CytImmune Sciences, Dr Larry Tamarkin, has given a speech on nanotechnology at the Food and Drug Administration's Centre for Drug Evaluation Research Advisory Committee for Pharmaceutical Science and Clinical Pharmacology, reports SmallTimes.CytImmune Sciences is a company which focuses on the development of tumour-targeted therapies. It uses gold nanoparticles, the biology of tumours and cytotoxic agents in its research. From this, the company said it is developing "a pipeline of proprietary drug candidates binding potent anti-cancer agents . . . to its patented colloidal gold tumour-targeting nanotechnology". The company believes its nanoscale strategy is fundamental to improving the outcome of patient's treatment. Over the course of the presentation, Dr Tamarkin covered topics such as the advantage of using nanotechnology to deliver drugs into the system and the challenges that face the development these methods of deliverability. In other news, the US Food and Drug Administration has recently cleared the Pathwork Tissue of Origin test - which helps to identify types of cancer cells in tumours - for marketing.
